Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Mountainside Public Library are the primary fundraisers of the MPL. The Friends are volunteers who work hard to raise money in support of library programs as well as other special library needs. Recent gifts from the Friends include:
The Friends also donate beautiful floral arrangements to the library every month.
Meetings are typically held at the library once every six weeks for about an hour. The big annual projects are two book sale fundraisers (one in the spring and one in the fall) and the fall membership drive with a yearly newsletter for the community.
The Friends are always looking for new, active members, especially people with good ideas for publicity and fundraising. If you are interested in joining the Friends of the Library, please call us at 908-233-0115 or pick up a Friends Flier next time you're in the library.
The last five years have been the busiest five years in the history of the Mountainside Library! Ironically, while demand for library services is at its peak, the library is facing severe cuts in revenue. The MPL's municipal appropriation -- the library's main funding -- has fallen over $90,000 since 2009. That's about 14%! State aid has been cut more than 50%, over $3,000. Hours have been reduced... Staff positions have been eliminated... New Book & DVD purchases have been cut 40%. Your support has never meant so much! Thank you!
Every dollar raised goes right back to the community in the form of library programs and services.
DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE!
