Library Membership
Any person who lives, works, or owns property in the Borough of Mountainside is eligible for a library card that enables them to borrow materials in accordance with policies set forth by the Board of Trustees. A current government issued photo ID and proof of address is required to verify identity and residency. Resident library cards are issued for a period of three years. Non-residents who work in Mountainside must also provide proof of employment. Non-residents who own property or a business in Mountainside must also show proof of ownership in the form of a tax bill. Non-resident cards must be renewed every year.
There is no age restriction to get a card, but at least one parent or guardian must be registered and is required at registration to show proof of identity and proof of address.
Individuals not entitled to a Mountainside card and do not have access to our collection through a library in MURAL are able to purchase a card with full borrowing privileges for an annual fee of $55.00.
